The back and chest acne is more difficult to treat. The skin on the is thicker and tougher and, on the back, much less accessible. You must use a different approach and different acne skin care products for these areas.

Your back and chest are also irritated much more that the face. Your back and chest are in almost constant contact with clothing and other materials that can irritate your skin, which can aggravate your acne.

The best way to treat back and chest acne is to take a preventative approach. Figure out what is the main trigger for the acne other than runaway hormones. For instance, heavy backpacks tend to cause sweating and excess oil production (to protect the skin from the irritation. This can lead to acne outbreaks. Heavy backpacks also tend to pop pimples on the back and spread the pus around causing more acne outbreaks. A good step would to switch to a shoulder bag for a while to see if the acne improves. Step two would to insure that you always wear a clean shirt daily.

Tight or rough clothing can also affect your acne. Tight clothing rubs against the skin spreading the acne and rubbing off dead skin cells. These skin cells can lodge in the skin pores and cause acne.

Rough clothing does the same thing. It can irritate the existing acne causing it to be more difficult to deal with. It can also help spread the acne and to cause more acne for the same reason tight clothing can.

Always wear smooth, loose clothing. This is especially true when indulging in activities such as working out, sports, walking or running. When you work out, you sweat, which can add unwanted materials to your skin and help influence breakouts. Tight clothing can trap these materials on the surface of your skin, or may even cause you to sweat more. Loose clothing will prove more comfortable all around

Before any acne treatment always gently wash the area and rinse well and then pat dry. The patting keeps the acne from spreading.

For back and chest acne treatment you should start with a 2% salicylic acid product such as Clearasil or Oxy applied to the area. Next you might need a moisturizer - get a good one - not an oil based, unless it is Jojoba oil. Or just apply Jojoba oil. Pick out a small area first to see how your skin reacts.

If the 2% Salicylic Acid doesn’t work for you I suggest you try Tea Tree Oil. This has a very noticeable odor. Again pick a small area to test with to see how your skin will react.

You can pick up large Q-tips at places like Walmart which really aid in applying the acne medications to areas you normally can’t reach.
